Meet the new Have a Heart for CANFAR team!

The have a Heart for CANFAR team is dedicated to helping schools through our national youth education program. These girls are behind the scenes of all the preparation that goes into the supplies for materials that assist schools educate about HIV and AIDS. We are very happy to have them!

Katy O’Connor "Be the change you want to see."

Katy is a recent Queen’s French Studies Graduate. She lives in downtown Toronto and is interested in learning more about languages. Working for a non-profit organization, she is very excited about working as the bilingual national programs assistant for the Have a Heart for CANFAR program. Katy enjoys travelling – she has already been to South East Asia, Europe, South America, and has plans to travel to Africa and Australia when she has a chance. She is interested in learning more about HIV and AIDS and how they affect people on a global scale and working for CANFAR is a great opportunity to do so!

Devon Hamilton "Imagination is more important than knowledge."

Devon has an undergraduate degree in Political Science from McMaster University, and completed a post-graduate program in International Development at Humber College. Devon was recently in Ghana for three months where she facilitated various workshops with local youth including AIDS awareness & stigma reduction programs. She is thrilled to be working with the talented staff at CANFAR as a National Programs Assistant, focusing on the Have a Heart for CANFAR campaign.

Karen Stanley "He who hesitates is lost."

Karen is a recent graduate from Queen’s University with a Bachelor of Honours in psychology. Before joining the Have a Heart team at CANFAR, Karen spent her summers working as a camp counselor, and has enjoyed studying and traveling abroad. Karen is looking forward to working as a National Programs Assistant and to participating in all the great events CANFAR has to offer!

Danielle Lalonde "Be more, need less."

Danielle is a bilingual Have a Heart for CANFAR team member excited to be working with English and French schools across the country. This summer she served as CANFAR’s National Programs Intern and prior was a BCom student at McGill University in Montreal, Québec. Danielle has been involved with a variety of organizations, including the Canadian Cancer Society, the YWCA of Montreal, and the McGill Sustainability Network. Hailing from Gatineau, QC, she is a huge fan of volunteering, rivers, Canadian history, and Pinot Grigio.
