Our Legacy Group was specifically created to support HIV prevention and social awareness of HIV and AIDS for young, gay males. With the Legacy Group, we aim to fund crucial research into more effective prevention programs - of which there is a critical need. Since 2000, the proportion of AIDS cases among MSM (men who have sex with men) youth has increased from 26.3% to 43%. As well, young adults (aged 20-29) account for a quarter of all Canadians diagnosed with HIV or AIDS.
Committee Chair, Duane Ledgister, and CANFAR President and CEO, Christopher Bunting, are extremely grateful to all those who attended this event. It was an inspiration to hear special guest, Mark Tewksbury and we would like to thank him for his ongoing support of the community.
We'd also to thank CANFAR Scientific Advisory Committee member, Dr. Trevor Hart, for his words on HIV-prevention. We look forward to hearing more from you in the future.
