RUBBER YOUR DUCKY 2012

March 19, 2012 by Margot T.

It's super easy to raise money and awareness for a great cause... Here's how! :)

Amanda Armstrong, a former Have a Heart for CANFAR team member and a devoted supporter of CANFAR, recently held an event to raise money for us. We can't thank her enough - what a superstar! Lets hear what she has to say about planning and executing Rubber Your Ducky:

On Friday March 2nd, my friends and I held our 2nd annual fundraiser party, Rubber Your Ducky, in support of CANFAR. The best part about it... It wasn't just easy to do, but it was also so much fun!

In 2011, we held the first Rubber Your Ducky and had approximately 150 guests raising more than $2,200. This year, we had 350 guests and raised more than $4,200. It was such a great way to get our friends together to organize something as a team.

Here's some easy steps to follow so that you can have fun hosting a great event in support of a good cause:

1. Get some friends together who are eager to help out

2. Meet up for a fun get-together at someone's house (or a coffee-shop or other quiet space) and plan out the event/activity that you want to host

3. Meet with the organization that you are raising money for to see how they can support you.

4. Coordinate the logistics and details: Set a date. Arrange a venue. Decide on a price. Find a DJ, photographer, and volunteers to help out.

5. Reach out to friends, family, and colleagues to obtain sponsorship and donated items.

6. PROMOTE! A party/event is the perfect way to get all of your friends, family, and colleagues together for a fun time :)

7. Have fun :)

We're looking forward to next year with an even bigger team of friends interested in getting more involved. Thanks to CANFAR for all the support that they've given us to make planning a great event so easy! :)
