Scientific Advisory Committee


Every June, the members of CANFAR’s Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) pour over dozens of research grant applications from across the country. Made up of some of Canada’s leading experts in HIV and AIDS science and research, the SAC members have the difficult task of choosing which research projects will receive funding.

The SAC ultimately chooses the most promising research projects for funding – ones that provide the best opportunities to find a cure or vaccine or uncover better knowledge or improved treatment.

In a perfect world, we could give grants to every promising research opportunity. At present, however, we can only fund a fraction of these projects.
